Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has shared the story behind his new film, Seven Doors. He said the movie was inspired by the real-life experiences of a king he knew personally.
“It is vital to preserve our culture,” Adebayo said. “Creating films about our rich traditions helps future generations learn and appreciate them.”
He explained that the idea for Seven Doors came from the struggles of a king. “I had the privilege of knowing a king closely. What he went through inspired the concept of Seven Doors. People often see kings as mini-gods, but they are human too. They face many challenges before and after ascending the throne,” he said.
The movie also highlights the power of love. Adebayo stressed, “I want to show that love is above all. When love and tradition clash, love always wins.”
The film has sparked conversations, especially about a kissing scene between Adebayo and actress Chioma Chukwuka. Addressing it, he said, “I was just playing my role. It was part of the character’s story.”
However, his favorite moment in the film wasn’t one of his own scenes. “The best scene, for me, was when the chiefs were laid on the floor and beaten. I wasn’t even in that scene, but it stood out,” he said.
Seven Doors combines cultural storytelling with a message about love. The movie has solidified Adebayo’s reputation as a Nollywood leader.
