The Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the unfortunate event in a statement, emphasizing that the government was not involved in the planning or logistics of the private funfair.
The stampede caused widespread panic and chaos, with many children sustaining injuries as they attempted to flee the overcrowded venue. Emergency teams were mobilized to the scene to provide immediate assistance.
Government’s Response
The Oyo State Government quickly deployed a rapid response team to manage the situation and transport victims to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Commissioner Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, who heads the Ministry of Health, activated all available response teams to ensure swift intervention.
