NAFDAC Alerts Nigerians on Fake Cancer Drug Phesgo 600mg

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians about counterfeit Phesgo 600mg/600mg/10ml cancer treatment drugs, bearing batch number C5290S20. This counterfeit product, flagged by a doctor at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, closely resembles a previously reported fake batch, C3809C51.

The counterfeit Phesgo vials and packaging showed significant differences from genuine products, including discrepancies in language, missing batch numbers, and incorrect tamper-evidence labels. Phesgo is used for treating breast cancer by targeting and killing cancer cells.

NAFDAC urges healthcare providers, importers, and the public to report suspected counterfeit drugs and to only purchase medicines from authorized sources. The agency is taking action to remove these dangerous products from circulation and has made its reporting systems available via its website and other channels.
