Be Honest With Yourself – Guardiola Warns De Bruyne Over Man City Future

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has urged Kevin De Bruyne to be honest with himself as he considers his future at the Premier League club.

De Bruyne’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and Manchester City will allow the 33-year-old to decide his next move after spending ten years at the club.

The Belgian midfielder has recently faced limited playing time, staying on the bench during City’s 5-1 defeat to Arsenal and missing out entirely on the Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

His performance in City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday attracted criticism, with many questioning whether his body can still handle the physical demands of the Premier League.

Speaking about De Bruyne’s future, Guardiola said:

“I think in that situation he has to decide, that is the most important thing.

“He’s completely honest with himself, to decide what he feels and what he can do in the next period of his life.

“He’s 34 in the summer, and he has to decide, like what happened with David Silva, for example.”

Despite concerns about his fitness, De Bruyne remains a key player for Guardiola’s side, but the club is prepared to respect his decision regarding his future.
