EPL: Emile Heskey Names Bruno Fernandes as Flop of the Season

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has named Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes as the flop of the season in the Premier League. Heskey, speaking to Instant Casino, criticized Fernandes for his lack of leadership and overall performance as captain, suggesting the Portuguese international has been underwhelming this season.

Despite Fernandes’ past contributions to the team, including goals and assists, Heskey believes he has failed to step up in his captaincy role. “In seasons gone by, he’s been scoring goals and really carrying the team, but with the captain’s armband, you’re expecting a little bit more,” Heskey said. “I want to see a bit more drive, I want to see a bit more leadership. One good performance like he produced against Liverpool is not good enough.”

Heskey expressed disappointment with Fernandes’ lack of aggression on the pitch, stating that the minimum expectation for a captain is to be more involved and set the standards for the team. With only four goals and six assists in 19 Premier League games, and another two goals and two assists in three Carabao Cup matches, Fernandes has yet to live up to expectations this season.
