The Nasarawa State Police Command has intercepted and recovered a stolen Lexus SUV following a robbery and kidnapping incident in Kurudu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was launched after a distress call was received at 03:53 am on March 3, 2025. Intelligence indicated that the suspects were heading along the Keffi-Akwanga Road.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, officers from the Garaku Division set up a checkpoint at Tollgate.
“Within minutes, a white Lexus Jeep with registration number ABJ 107 DX matching the stolen vehicle’s description approached. On sighting the police, the suspects attempted to escape by reversing the vehicle,” the statement read.
Police officers quickly disabled the vehicle’s tires, forcing the suspects to abandon the car and flee into a nearby bush. Despite an immediate search, the suspects escaped.

The stolen vehicle was recovered and taken to the police station for further investigation.
The FCT Police Command also confirmed that the kidnapped victim—a woman—was abandoned by the suspects before they fled with her vehicle. She has been safely located and is receiving support.
Authorities have assured the public that the area is under control while efforts to capture the fleeing suspects continue.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
