Enyimba have dedicated their 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes to their injured forward, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, who is currently sidelined due to injury.
Joseph Atule, the club’s powerful striker, secured the winning goal in the 62nd minute, giving the two-time African champions an important away win.
The victory at the Lafia City Stadium marked Enyimba’s third away win of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The Aba-based side previously defeated Heartland and Lobi Stars on their travels, reinforcing their strong form away from home.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele suffered an injury during Enyimba’s Abia State Federation Cup final clash against Ahudiya last month.
The forward, who has scored five league goals this season, is expected to be out of action for approximately eight weeks, a significant blow to Finidi George’s squad.
In a show of solidarity, Enyimba took to their official Facebook page to express their support for the injured player, writing:
“Dear Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, this victory is a testament to your strength, and we’re sending you our best wishes for a swift and full recovery.”
With this latest win, Enyimba continue to push for a strong finish in the NPFL, showing resilience despite injury setbacks. Fans remain hopeful that Ihemekwele will return stronger to boost the team’s title ambitions.
