The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 20 suspects and recovered several arms and ammunition following a raid on a criminal hideout in Taraba State.
The operation, conducted on Wednesday at the Wamunchi dry season rice farms, was based on credible intelligence, according to a statement from the police.
A post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle revealed that the raid resulted in the seizure of various weapons. Among the recovered items were one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, three Dane guns, a bow and arrow, and a motorcycle.
Confirming the development, a police spokesperson said, “The 20 suspects, all male, were taken into custody and are currently being profiled. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and reaffirmed the force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the country.
The police urged residents of Taraba State and the general public to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to aid further operations against criminal activities.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the suspects’ connections and uncover additional criminal elements in the region.
