The Nigerian Army has promoted 108 senior officers to enhance leadership and operations. The Army Council promoted 35 Brigadier Generals to Major Generals and 73 Colonels to Brigadier Generals.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, announced the promotions. He emphasized that these moves are crucial for improving operational readiness. Among the newly promoted Major Generals are Brigadier General A Garba, the acting Provost Marshal, and Brigadier General UM Alkali, Deputy Chief of Administration in the Directorate of Veteran Affairs (Army).
Other notable promotions include Brigadier General AGL Haruna, who leads Sector 1 in North East Operation HADIN KAI, and Brigadier General IA Ajose, leading Sector 2 in North West Operation FANSAN YAMA. These officers play vital roles in the Army’s ongoing operations.
The list also includes Brigadier General OA Awolo, Director of Military Training at the Nigerian Defence Academy, and Brigadier General UG Ogeleka, Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command.
These promotions reinforce the Army’s commitment to strengthening leadership and improving operational effectiveness. With experienced officers in key positions, the Army is better prepared to address national security challenges.
