The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered N784,000 from officers involved in extortion and misconduct. The money was returned to the victims.

Commissioner of Police Auwal Mohammed shared this in a statement on the command’s 2024 achievements. He credited the recovery to the Complaint Response Unit under the Police Public Relations Department. The unit handled complaints from the public and ensured swift action.

“We received 10 complaints against officers in 2024. After investigations, we recovered N784,000 and returned it to the victims,” Mohammed said.

The command also disciplined 18 officers for various professional misconduct. One constable was dismissed, four officers were demoted, six got warning letters, and four were reprimanded.

Mohammed stressed that these actions show the Force’s commitment to professionalism. He said misconduct will not be tolerated, and officers must uphold high standards.

He urged the public to report any cases of police wrongdoing. “We are committed to justice and will act swiftly on all complaints,” he assured.

This move aims to rebuild public trust and ensure accountability within the Force. The Bauchi police promise to maintain transparency and deliver better service to the people.
