The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bayelsa State Council has announced the organization of its inaugural media summit, dubbed The Bayelsa Media Summit, aimed at strengthening interactions with stakeholders and promoting the state’s image.
Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, the chairman of the Bayelsa NUJ, disclosed this during the inauguration of the summit’s steering committee at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre in Yenagoa. The committee, which will be chaired by former NUJ chairman Mr. Tarinyo Akono, includes key figures such as Mr. Imgbi Stanley (current secretary of the state council), Mr. Ebi Avi, Dr. Kola Oredipe (Director-General of New Media to Governor Douye Diri), and other notable members from the Ministry of Information, the Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation, and NUJ.
In his acceptance speech, Akono expressed confidence that the summit would successfully promote Bayelsa to attract investors and tourists. Dr. Kola Oredipe emphasized the summit’s potential to unite journalists and help reshape the narrative of Bayelsa State positively.
The event will serve as a platform to showcase the potential of Bayelsa and demonstrate how the media can contribute to enhancing the state’s reputation on both national and international stages.
