Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed confidence that his political destiny lies in God’s hands. He stated that he is not concerned about re-election in 2027, as his focus remains on fulfilling his current mandate.
Yusuf spoke in Kano, emphasizing that he is more interested in delivering the dividends of democracy during his first tenure than worrying about future elections. “What matters to me is not re-election. My priority is to serve the people and fulfill the promises I made to them,” he said.
He reminded the people of Kano about his surprising victory in both 2019 and 2023, despite starting with no political office. “We won when we had nothing—no councillorship seat, no political machinery. But by the will of Allah, we won with a landslide,” Yusuf recalled.
The governor reaffirmed his belief in destiny and divine will regarding his political future. “I am destined to be governor. If it is Allah’s will, I will serve a second term. If not, I will accept it,” he stated.
Despite political pressure, Yusuf is unwavering in his commitment to his work. “My performance will speak for me, not any political pressure,” he concluded.
