Group Urges Governor Sani to Relocate NYSC Camp from Government College Kaduna

The Old Boys Association of Government College Kaduna (KADOBA) has demanded that Governor Uba Sani move the NYSC orientation camp from the school. They said the camp is harming students’ education and depriving them of vital facilities.

At an event marking the 20th anniversary of the Class of 2004’s graduation, KADOBA members expressed their concerns. They blamed the conversion of parts of the school into NYSC and civil defense camps for the lack of classrooms and dormitories.

Engr. AbdurRahman Musa, Chairman of KADOBA’s Class of 2004, called for urgent action. “The camp was moved here due to insecurity. But with better security under Governor Sani, corps members should return to their permanent site along Kaduna-Abuja road,” he said.

Musa praised Governor Sani’s work on security but urged him to focus on education. “Governor Sani cares about education. It is painful to see students lose their learning spaces because of the camp,” he added.

KADOBA’s National President, Yusuf Muhammad, highlighted the school’s decline. “This school once produced governors, senators, and top leaders. Now, fewer than 300 students attend all classes, compared to when one form had over 300 students,” he said.

He noted that most of the school’s facilities have been taken over for non-educational uses. “Seventy to eighty percent of the infrastructure is gone. This is unacceptable. We trust Governor Sani will act quickly to save the school,” Muhammad said.

The group urged the governor to act now, saying the students’ future depends on restoring the school.
