Kano State Distributes 484 Laptops to Healthcare Centres in Digitisation Drive

The Kano State Government has distributed 484 laptops to apex Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across all wards in the state’s 44 local government areas. This initiative, announced during the flag-off ceremony of the 2nd Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Week in Kumbotso Local Government Area, is part of a broader effort to modernize and digitize healthcare facilities for enhanced service delivery.

Governor Abba Yusuf, who presided over the ceremony, highlighted the importance of the digitisation initiative. A statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, detailed that the distribution aligns with the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and providing efficient healthcare services to Kano residents.

The statement also noted the renovation of several major healthcare facilities, including Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Hospital, Hasiya Bayero Hospital, Nuhu Bamalli Hospital, and the Emergency Unit of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. Governor Yusuf emphasized that these upgrades are designed to create a more conducive working environment for healthcare workers and ensure quality care for all.

In addition to the computer distribution, the state government has installed solar power systems at the State Primary Healthcare Management Board headquarters and its six zonal offices, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to improve operational efficiency.

The 2025 annual budget includes plans to renovate hundreds of primary and secondary healthcare facilities, further solidifying the administration’s focus on healthcare infrastructure and accessibility. “These efforts aim to provide access to quality and affordable healthcare services for the people of Kano State, irrespective of their socio-economic status,” the Governor stated.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to reducing maternal and child mortality, as well as enhancing the overall healthcare delivery system in Kano. The digitisation and infrastructural improvements mark significant strides toward modernising the state’s healthcare sector and improving the well-being of its residents.
