Police operatives in Imo State successfully rescued four kidnapped victims and neutralized two kidnappers during a raid in Umuokanne, Ohaji LGA, on January 4, 2025. The police responded swiftly to a distress call reporting the abduction. Upon locating the kidnappers’ hideout, a gun battle ensued, resulting in the rescue of the victims and the seizure of an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 21 rounds of ammunition. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi assured the public of continued efforts to combat crime and ensure safety.
In Ebonyi State, 17 suspects were arrested for the murder of Uromchi Okorocha, accused by locals of witchcraft and causing multiple deaths. The suspects took the law into their own hands, killing and burning Okorocha before police arrived. Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun condemned the act of jungle justice and reiterated the importance of reporting crimes to authorities.
