Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has assured the people of the state that the momentum of development witnessed in 2024 will not slow down in the coming year. In his New Year message, Mbah emphasized his commitment to inclusive development and economic growth, reiterating that no excuses would temper the expectations of the citizens.
Mbah outlined several key projects set for commissioning in the early days of 2025, including the completion of Smart Green Schools, the International Conference Centre, new Primary Healthcare Centres, and a network of urban and rural roads. These projects, he noted, represent a fraction of the state’s broader vision for transformation. His administration plans to open the doors of Smart Schools across the state, ensuring children between the ages of 3 and 15 receive world-class education alongside daily free meals.
The governor reaffirmed his ambition to grow Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, focusing on transforming the state into a premier destination for business, investment, tourism, and living. In line with this vision, Mbah pledged that development would reach even the most remote areas, where basic amenities will become accessible to all citizens.
Furthermore, Mbah called on Nigerians to embrace love, empathy, and charity as essential components for national progress. He urged citizens to prioritize the needs of others and not be consumed by personal pursuits. “Love and empathy are crucial building blocks of every society,” he said, underscoring that his government’s development model was designed to be inclusive and human-centered.
Mbah concluded by expressing gratitude to the people for their unwavering support and wished everyone a joyful and peaceful New Year. He assured the citizens that the track towards sustainable development would remain steadfast in 2025.
