2025 President Federation Cup: Teams Qualify for National Playoff

Finalists for the national playoffs of the 2025 President Federation Cup have emerged, with two teams qualifying from each state across Nigeria. This marks a crucial stage in one of the country’s most prestigious football competitions, as clubs battle for a chance to progress further and compete for national glory.

In Imo State, Heartland FC and OISA FC secured their places after a fiercely contested state-level competition. Heartland FC, a club with a rich history in Nigerian football, demonstrated their dominance throughout the qualifying rounds, while OISA FC’s impressive performance earned them the second slot.

Abia State will be represented by Enyimba International FC and Ahudiyannem FC. Enyimba, Nigeria’s most successful football club with multiple domestic and continental titles, secured their place with a comfortable victory. Ahudiyannem FC, though relatively unknown on the national stage, surprised many with their tactical discipline and secured the second qualification spot.

Kwara United and Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC claimed the tickets from Kwara State. Both clubs, known for their youthful squads, overcame tough opposition in their state qualifiers to reach the national stage. Kwara United’s experience in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) gave them the edge, while ABS FC’s energetic approach ensured they joined the playoff lineup.

Ogun State’s representatives are Imperial FC and Beyond Limits FC. Beyond Limits FC, the youth team of Remo Stars, continues to gain recognition for its focus on nurturing young talent. They secured their playoff spot after a commanding performance. Imperial FC, another rising football academy, earned the second berth following an impressive display during the qualifiers.

Benue State will be represented by Lobi Stars and Flight FC. Lobi Stars, a regular feature in Nigerian football’s top tier, lived up to expectations with a dominant performance. Flight FC, a rising club in the state, also showed resilience to secure their place in the playoffs.

From Lagos State, Ikorodu City FC and Inter Lagos emerged as the two representatives. Both teams, known for their competitive style, navigated through intense competition to earn their slots. Ikorodu City FC’s tactical prowess and Inter Lagos’ flair and attacking approach made them stand out.

Rivers United and Wilbros FC will represent Rivers State. Rivers United, one of the heavyweights in Nigerian football, showcased their experience in securing a place. Wilbros FC, despite being underdogs, displayed strong character to join them in the playoffs.

Nasarawa United and Basira FC earned their spots from Nasarawa State. Nasarawa United’s extensive experience in the NPFL made them favorites, and they did not disappoint. Basira FC, a club with a growing fanbase, also made their mark to reach the national playoff round.

Ondo State will be represented by Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Stars U-19. The senior team, Sunshine Stars, comfortably advanced with their wealth of experience. Their U-19 side, focused on grooming future talents, also qualified, highlighting the club’s developmental success.

Akwa United and Eagle Eye FA secured their qualifications from Akwa Ibom State. Akwa United, known for their attacking flair, cruised through the qualifiers. Eagle Eye FA impressed many with their disciplined and organized approach, earning a place alongside their more established counterparts.

Other qualified teams include Crown FC and Shooting Stars from Oyo State, two clubs with proud histories in Nigerian football. Katsina United and Jnr Danburam advanced from Katsina State after strong performances. Cynosure FC and Abakaliki FC will represent Ebonyi State, while Bayelsa United and Crusaders FC emerged from Bayelsa State.

Plateau State’s representatives are Plateau United and Mighty Jets. Plateau United, former NPFL champions, proved too strong for their opposition. Mighty Jets, one of Nigeria’s oldest clubs, demonstrated their resurgence with a strong run to the playoffs.

Kano State’s hopes will be carried by Kano Pillars and Barau FC. Kano Pillars, a powerhouse in northern Nigerian football, secured their place comfortably. Barau FC, a rising team, showed promise and earned their first appearance in the national playoffs.

The 2025 President Federation Cup national playoffs will take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and will feature these teams competing for a place in the next round. Football fans across the country are eagerly anticipating thrilling matches as clubs from different regions test their skills and determination in the fight for national recognition.
