NNPC Revolutionizes Oil and Gas Operations with Cutting-Edge Production Monitoring Centre

In a groundbreaking move to transform Nigeria’s hydrocarbon operations, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has unveiled its state-of-the-art Production Monitoring Command Centre (PMCC). This innovation promises to redefine efficiency and elevate production standards in the oil and gas sector.

Spearheaded by NNPC’s Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), the PMCC builds on the success of the Command and Control Centre. The system serves as a comprehensive platform to monitor hydrocarbon activities from production sites to export terminals, encompassing Joint Ventures (JVs) and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs).

According to NNPC Chief Corporate Communications Officer Olufemi Soneye, the PMCC aligns seamlessly with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to enhance operational efficiency and boost production capacity in the industry.

Designed with cutting-edge technology, the PMCC integrates real-time data from multiple operators, offering stakeholders an unparalleled overview of production activities. By consolidating this data, the system ensures swift identification of anomalies, minimizes unplanned disruptions, and supports uninterrupted operations.

The PMCC’s predictive and preventive maintenance capabilities are a standout feature. By monitoring equipment performance and coordinating maintenance activities, the system guarantees asset reliability and longevity. This innovation directly translates into minimized downtime, optimized maintenance, and increased revenue.

Collaboration lies at the heart of the PMCC’s functionality. The secure platform enables seamless data sharing among stakeholders, fostering effective problem-solving and continuous improvement across the sector. With advanced analytics and actionable insights, operators can make proactive decisions, achieve production targets, and maintain superior operational standards.

NNPC Ltd.’s modernization efforts under the leadership of Mele Kyari have already resulted in a production increase to 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd), with a target of reaching two million bpd. The PMCC is central to achieving this milestone, enhancing efficiency and strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global energy market.

Operating round the clock and leveraging cloud-based solutions, the PMCC ensures seamless communication between internal and external stakeholders. With direct links to the Industry-Wide Security Command and Control Centre, it also bolsters the security of production operations.

This strategic initiative underscores NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the oil and gas sector. As Nigeria advances its energy ambitions, the PMCC stands as a testament to the nation’s dedication to long-term growth, profitability, and global competitiveness.
