Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and selflessness as the nation faces global challenges. Speaking after a Christmas service at the Living Faith Church in Asaba on Wednesday, he emphasized the importance of love and sacrifice during the festive season.
He acknowledged that crises are happening worldwide but said Nigeria has managed its challenges well. The governor urged citizens to prioritize national interest over personal ambitions to promote progress and stability.
“Christmas reminds us of selfless love and giving, as shown by the birth of Jesus Christ,” he said. “These values should guide us daily, especially during these difficult times.”
Governor Oborevwori, joined by his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, and family, expressed gratitude for the support his administration has received from Deltans. He assured residents of peace and security throughout the celebrations.
“I am happy to celebrate Christmas in Asaba with all of you. I assure Deltans there will be peace during this festive season,” he said. “I know these are trying times, but I believe 2025 will be better than this year.”
The governor also expressed condolences to families affected by recent stampedes in parts of the country. He prayed for God to grant them strength and comfort in their losses.
Looking ahead, Governor Oborevwori expressed optimism for the coming year. “2025 will be a year of consolidation,” he said. “I pray for unity in Delta State and Nigeria as we work together for a brighter future.”
His message reminds Nigerians of the power of unity and collective effort in overcoming challenges and building a stronger nation.
