The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State has officially suspended its Ward 6 Chairman, Philip Ojo, following allegations of gross misconduct. The decision was announced by the executive members of Ward 6, led by Vice Chairman Peter Abekhe, who revealed that Ojo had failed to respond to official queries regarding his actions.

The suspension stems from a series of accusations that Ojo had not only mismanaged funds intended for party activities but had also been accused of collaborating with opposition groups to undermine APC operations. These alleged actions were described as anti-party activities, which the ward executives deemed detrimental to the APC’s mission in the area.

According to the suspension letter dated December 26, 2024, Ojo’s failure to address the charges laid against him, despite being given a 48-hour ultimatum to respond, led to a vote of no confidence. As a result, he was removed from his position as Ward 6 Chairman with immediate effect.

Furthermore, the ward executives have instructed Ojo to return all party assets and materials in his possession, as he is no longer authorized to represent the APC. The letter also warned that failure to comply with these directives could lead to legal action, including criminal charges.

The APC constitution empowers ward executives to take disciplinary action against any member found guilty of breaching the party’s principles. This suspension highlights the party’s commitment to upholding accountability and integrity within its ranks.

The APC leadership in Ward 6 has made it clear that it remains dedicated to strengthening the party’s presence and ensuring that all leadership actions align with the core values of the APC.
