Samuel Chukwueze will miss AC Milan’s Italian Super Cup semi-final clash against Juventus in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after sustaining a hamstring injury during the weekend match against AS Roma.
The injury occurred during Milan’s 1-1 draw with Roma, where Chukwueze had shown some creativity but was forced to limp off the field after 62 minutes. Initial assessments suggest the injury could sideline him for several weeks, adding to his recent struggles at Milan since joining in July 2023.
The winger’s absence is a blow for Milan, who have recently appointed Sergio Conceição as head coach. Conceição will face Juventus on January 3 at Al Awal Park at King Saud University in his first match as Milan’s head coach.
Chukwueze’s time in Serie A has been difficult so far, with just three goals and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions this season. The Nigerian international has often appeared as a substitute, and his injury raises doubts about his future at the club, especially with reports linking him to a potential transfer, including a swap deal with Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior.
AC Milan will likely rely on Rafael Leão and Christian Pulisic for the Super Cup match, with both players traveling but under fitness evaluation. Meanwhile, Chukwueze will remain in Milan to focus on recovery.
