Mikel Obi Blasts Man Utd Players After Newcastle Defeat, Praises Amorim

Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has heavily criticized Manchester United players following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, which marked their fourth consecutive loss.

The Red Devils were outclassed at Old Trafford, with Alexander Isak scoring in the 4th minute, followed by Joelinton doubling Newcastle’s advantage just 19 minutes later. Mikel did not mince words in his assessment of the performance, stating it was painful to watch, even for those who aren’t Manchester United fans.

On the Obi One podcast, Mikel expressed his frustration, saying, Even if you’re not a United fan, it’s awful to watch them. They’re horrendous. Newcastle would’ve been 3-0 up in 20 minutes. It was a disaster.

Mikel went on to defend Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, stating that the defeat was not the coach’s fault. He praised Amorim as a fantastic and brilliant young manager,  but was quick to point out that the current squad lacks the quality required to represent such a prestigious club.

He added, I’ve said it when he came into the club – the players in United, I’m sorry, they are nowhere good enough to be playing for Manchester United.
