Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has refused to apologize to Peter Odili, former Rivers State Governor. Wike spoke during a luncheon at his residence in Port Harcourt on Friday. He insisted his remarks about Odili were not insults but reminders of Odili’s public statements.

Wike accused Odili of encouraging Governor Siminalayi Fubara to break the peace accord. President Bola Tinubu brokered the agreement in December 2023 to end Rivers State’s political crisis.They want me to apologize, but for what?” Wike said. “There is no law against their daughter holding a position. Wike claimed Odili is the one misusing Rivers’ resources. The man turning Rivers into a personal estate is you. Now, you call yourself the general overseer, Wike said.

He also accused Odili of failing to respect the peace accord. Wike said Odili had not denied his allegations and saw no reason to apologize.The crisis escalated after Wike accused Odili of placing his family in key positions in Rivers State. Earlier, Wike had called Odili a sycophant and a trader.

Politicians from APC and PDP attended the luncheon, including Edo Governor Monday Okpebolo and ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
