The Abia State Police Command has denied media reports alleging that there were killings or missing persons following a fresh boundary clash between the Isu people in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State and their Ukwa neighbors in Cross River State.
In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Maureen Chinaka, clarified that no such attack occurred in Isu. She emphasized that the situation in the area remained peaceful and no complaints had been filed with the police regarding such an incident.
Chinaka expressed concern over the unverified media reports, questioning how such news spread without proper confirmation from the police. She added that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) had dispatched an officer to the area, and after further inquiry, it was confirmed that there had been no such incident.
The PPRO urged the public to disregard unconfirmed reports that could cause unnecessary panic or tension in the community, stressing the importance of reporting verified information.
