The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted N100 million bail to Jude Okoye, the former manager and elder brother of music duo Psquare, following his arraignment over an alleged N1.38 billion fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Alexander Owoeye, who presided over the case on Monday, ruled that Jude Okoye must provide two sureties in the same sum. One of the sureties must own a landed property, and he is also barred from traveling abroad until the case is concluded.
The court proceedings have intensified the long-standing rift between the Psquare brothers—Peter and Paul Okoye—and their elder brother, Jude.
During a recent hearing, Paul publicly accused Peter of being responsible for their brother’s legal troubles. He vowed to secure Jude’s release and criticized Peter for allegedly working against the family.
This latest legal drama stems from a 2023 fallout when Psquare reportedly clashed over joint funds allegedly mismanaged by Jude. In an interview, Paul revealed that Peter got him and Jude arrested by the EFCC in December 2023. After investigations, Paul claimed he was cleared of all accusations.
Peter, however, denied these claims, accusing Paul and Jude of marginalizing him instead of working together to reclaim their top spot in the Nigerian music industry.
Reacting to the controversy, Jude defended himself during an Instagram Live session. He questioned why people expect him to mediate between his brothers when Peter allegedly shows him no respect. He also clarified that he had distanced himself from Psquare’s affairs for over eight years and expressed frustration over being dragged into their disputes.
As the legal battle unfolds, fans are left wondering whether the Okoye brothers will ever resolve their differences or if this courtroom clash will further widen the gap in one of Nigeria’s most famous music families.
