Nigerian-born British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua, has set his sights on a monumental goal for 2025: beating Tyson Fury to become a three-time world heavyweight champion. Joshua made this bold declaration following a visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Lagos on Wednesday.
The two-time heavyweight champion’s target is clear as he looks to secure redemption in his boxing career. Joshua, who recently visited Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, during the festive season, expressed his unwavering determination to get back on top.
Reflecting on his ambitions for 2025, Joshua stated, We’ll see, let’s get in the ring. Only God knows, but for me, we’ll see in the future. Despite the hurdles he’s faced, including his challenging match against Daniel Dubois in September 2024, Joshua remains focused on his ultimate goal.
There’s more work to do, he added. Time is of the essence, time is limited. So, I just want to put in more work. In 2024, when I look back, I believe I could have done more and I have another chance in 2025 to do more. I’m going to make sure that I take every opportunity that comes my way.
Joshua’s drive for success is palpable, and with another chance to reclaim his former glory, the boxer is prepared to weather the ups and downs that come with the sport. Ups and downs, they happen. To some people, it is always up. My life is up and down, so I got used to the turbulent times and keep riding the wave, he said.
The fighter, who was full of energy after meeting with President Tinubu, is determined to keep fighting until he reaches his destination, with Tyson Fury firmly in his sights for 2025. Joshua is committed to putting in the necessary work to reclaim his spot at the top of the boxing world.
