In his New Year message, Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, the Da-Amakiri Tubo and Amanyanabo of the Elem Kalabari Kingdom, urged the Kalabari diaspora to invest in their homeland. He encouraged them to build homes and start businesses in the Kalabari Kingdom, rather than buying land elsewhere.
Dokubo-Asari emphasized the wealth of resources in the region, including oil, gas, marine transport, agriculture, and tourism. He believes these areas offer strong investment opportunities that can boost the local economy and create jobs.
Reflecting on his own journey, Asari-Dokubo shared that he moved from Port Harcourt to Obuama in 2017. He sold his properties and reinvested in Obuama, helping to transform it into a thriving community.
He also urged Kalabari youth to avoid cultism and violence. He called for peaceful, constructive actions that would benefit the community. Asari-Dokubo reaffirmed his commitment to resource control and environmental conservation in the Niger Delta.
