The Bihar BJP has officially put an end to months of speculation surrounding the leadership of the NDA alliance for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. In a significant announcement following a two-day meeting of the Bihar BJP committee in Surajkund, Haryana, party officials confirmed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lead the alliance in the upcoming polls. The decision was unanimously backed by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal and other senior leaders, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Bihar BJP Minister Prem Kumar.
Jaiswal made it clear that there would be no change in leadership, stating, “Nitish Kumar is our face, and there is going to be no change. The confirmation came after a period of uncertainty, triggered by a recent interview with Union Minister Amit Shah, where his cryptic response had fueled speculation about a potential shift in leadership. However, Jaiswal, alongside other BJP leaders, reiterated that Kumar remains the undisputed leader of the NDA in Bihar.
The backing of Nitish Kumar’s leadership was also echoed by HAM-S leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, who, at his party’s national executive in New Delhi, reaffirmed the NDA’s decision to contest the 2025 elections under Kumar’s leadership.
The BJP’s core committee meeting, attended by key party figures including B.L. Santosh and Vinod Tawde, also focused on organisational matters and the election roadmap. Party leaders emphasized that development will be the primary agenda for the NDA in the upcoming polls, with a concerted effort to highlight the achievements of Nitish Kumar’s government at both the state and central levels. This, along with outreach programs through the Karpoori Rath and Nari Shakti Rath, aims to bring awareness of the Nitish government’s work to every village in Bihar.
The confirmation of Kumar’s leadership also marks a critical moment in the BJP’s strategy, as they gear up for a joint campaign with their allies, aiming to present a united front and promote the development agenda as the focal point of the 2025 assembly elections.
