Dr. Mainasara Kogo, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), has called for decisive military action against terrorism in northern Nigeria. Speaking at the 2025 Sir Ahmadu Bello National Annual Memorial Conference in Kaduna, Kogo recommended bombing nine forests in the region that harbor terrorists, including the infamous Sambisa Forest in Borno and the Mandara Mountains near Lake Chad.
Kogo argued that destroying these terrorist hideouts would cripple their operations and provide an opportunity to repurpose the areas for industrial and agricultural development, which could stimulate the economy and create jobs. He also proposed establishing specialized security forces, such as National Border Security Police and National Anti-Terrorism Police, to enhance Nigeria’s security framework.
The CCT Chairman further stressed the need for a thorough audit of Nigeria’s security spending over the past two decades to ensure accountability and transparency in the fight against terrorism.
The conference, focused on Nigeria’s leadership for national cohesion and stability, attracted significant figures including the National President of Gamji Heritage, Ahmed Abdullahi, and the Vice Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Ambassador Ibrahim Mai Sule.
