Ceasefire: Netanyahu Condemns ‘Shocking’ Chaos at Hostage Handover

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly condemned the disturbing and chaotic scenes that unfolded during the release of seven hostages in Khan Younis, where a frenzied crowd obstructed the transfer process.

Videos circulating online show Israeli civilians Gadi Mozes and Arbel Yehoud being escorted by armed gunmen from an Islamic Jihad vehicle toward a Red Cross convoy. The tense situation escalated as a mob of onlookers surged forward, shouting, waving flags, and attempting to take photographs. Security forces struggled to maintain control as the visibly distressed hostages were rushed into a waiting vehicle.

“I view with great severity the shocking scenes during the release of our hostages. This is further proof of the unimaginable cruelty of the Hamas terrorist organization.”

The Israeli Prime Minister also called for immediate intervention by international mediators to prevent a repeat of such distressing incidents. He warned that Israel would not tolerate any threats or harm against its citizens.

“Whoever dares to harm our hostages — will pay,” he said.

The latest hostage release was part of ongoing negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to secure a fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. In addition to the Israeli captives, five Thai nationals were also released.

While Israeli officials have welcomed the return of the hostages, they have expressed deep concerns over the chaotic circumstances of the transfer. A senior Israeli official accused Hamas and other militant factions of intentionally orchestrating the public spectacle to humiliate the hostages and provoke tensions.

The hostages were taken to an Israeli military base near the Gaza border for medical evaluations and psychological support before being reunited with their families. Reports indicate that some had suffered from malnutrition, psychological trauma, and physical abuse during their captivity.

The disturbing images from the Khan Younis handover have sparked international outrage, with world leaders urging Hamas to respect humanitarian protocols in hostage exchanges.

The United Nations, European Union, and United States have denounced the treatment of the hostages, calling for their immediate and unconditional release in a humane manner.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have reiterated their commitment to securing the return of all remaining hostages, warning that they will not hesitate to take further military action if necessary.

The hostage release is part of a broader temporary ceasefire deal, which has enabled humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza while both sides negotiate further prisoner exchanges.

However, the chaotic handover and Netanyahu’s strong response could jeopardize ongoing peace efforts. Israeli officials have hinted at possible military reprisals if such incidents continue.

Diplomatic sources suggest that additional Thai and Filipino hostages may be released in the coming days as part of negotiations between Hamas and mediators.

As the conflict continues, global leaders are closely watching whether Israel and Hamas can uphold the ceasefire agreement—or if tensions will spiral into renewed violence and military escalation.
