Job Summary:
As an Inspection Officer, you will be tasked with inspecting a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, and other types of mobile vehicles. Your role will involve checking the overall condition of vehicles, both interior and exterior, and thoroughly assessing critical systems such as the engine, transmission, brake systems, steering, suspension, and air conditioning, among others.
Not only will you assess the technical condition of the vehicles, but you will also play an integral part in helping customers by providing detailed and accurate inspection reports to guide negotiations. Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Scanning and Inspection:
- Utilize specialized vehicle scanning equipment to evaluate the status of each vehicle.
- Conduct thorough checks on all parts of the vehicle, including the interior, exterior, engine, transmission, brake system, steering system, suspension, and air conditioning system.
- Ensure that all aspects of the vehicle are inspected according to company standards.
2. Test Drives and Vehicle Evaluation:
- Conduct test drives for vehicles to evaluate the functionality of manual and automatic transmission systems.
- Provide comprehensive reports on the condition of each vehicle for the seller, assisting in price negotiations.
3. Reporting and Documentation:
- Create detailed inspection reports for each vehicle, outlining any issues or areas of concern.
- Identify and report any suspicious odometer readings or vehicles with missing identification numbers.
- Submit your findings to supervisors and follow-up as necessary.
4. Maintaining Tools and Work Area:
- Keep all tools, equipment, and official forms well-organized and in optimal working condition.
- Maintain a clean and efficient workspace to promote safety and productivity.
5. Remote Inspections and Customer Communication:
- Conduct remote inspections for local car dealerships as assigned.
- Provide clear communication with sellers, customers, and co-workers to ensure smooth workflow and effective vehicle assessments.
Qualifications and Profile:
Education:
- HND or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related fields.
- OND holders, graduates from other disciplines, or experienced mechanics may be considered if they possess the required experience or skills in the mechanical or automotive sector.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in vehicle diagnosis, inspection, or repair.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle scanning machines and ability to diagnose vehicle issues ranging from basic to advanced levels.
Skills:
- Proficiency in driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle models, mechanical systems, and automobile repairs.
- Familiarity with reading vehicle identification numbers (VIN) and understanding odometer readings.
- Ability to communicate clearly (both oral and written).
- Computer literacy is required to handle digital documentation and reporting.
Location Proximity:
- Applicants residing close to the inspection center locations will be given priority.
