Family Seeks Funds to Bury Nigerian Student Who Died in UK

The family of Ross Ogbeinde, a Nigerian international student at the University of South Wales, is urgently soliciting financial support for his burial after his sudden death on December 29, 2024.

Ogbeinde, originally from Benin City in Edo State, collapsed unexpectedly before passing away in his residence in Pontypridd, South Wales. He was set to graduate in January 2025. His wife, Benedicta, launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover burial and immediate family expenses, as well as support her and their three children.

As of Sunday, £225 had been raised out of the £20,000 goal. Benedicta expressed her need for help to care for the children during this challenging time.

This tragedy follows a worrying pattern, as another Nigerian student, Chinonso Ezeonwumere, died suddenly in the UK in October 2024.
