FCTA Intensifies Crackdown on Manhole Cover Vandals

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is cracking down on vandals stealing sewage manhole covers in Abuja.

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, confirmed the effort in a statement on Sunday. He said the FCTA is working to arrest the vandals and their buyers.

Authorities have been directed to stop the vandalism. Olayinka promised the public will be updated on progress soon.

FCT Minister Wike condemned the thefts, calling them reckless and dangerous. He said removing manhole covers from highways puts lives at risk.

This is not just theft; it’s a safety issue, Wike said. The FCTA will do everything necessary to stop this and keep Abuja safe.

Wike vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. He urged residents to cooperate with authorities to end the menace.

The FCTA’s actions show its commitment to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring safety in Abuja.
