A fire has ravaged shops in Ibadan, Oyo State, causing millions of naira in damage. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at the Tollgate area along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.
Sources report that at least four shops were affected by the inferno. The fire destroyed valuable property, though no lives were lost.
Oyo State Fire Service General Manager, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident. The fire, reported at 5:50 a.m., was traced to an unattended naked flame from a woman cooking in one of the shops.
Akinyinka stated that while the fire caused significant damage to the shops, multiple other shops were saved. Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, but billions in goods and materials were protected from the flames.
