Five motorists narrowly escaped death in three separate road accidents along the Lagos-Abeokuta and Sagamu-Benin expressways on Monday and Tuesday, according to updates from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE).
The first accident occurred on Monday along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in the Papa area. Three occupants of a Daf truck were unhurt after the truck lost control due to speeding. TRACE’s Commandant General, Seni Ogunyemi, confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported in this incident.
The second accident took place on Tuesday at the Sagamu Interchange area of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, where a Volvo truck lost control and overturned. Eyewitnesses reported that the accident was caused by excessive speed. The truck driver was hospitalized after sustaining injuries and was transported by Amotekun officials before TRACE arrived.
The third accident also occurred on Tuesday in the Papa area along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, where a commercial motorcyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver. The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was taken to General Hospital Ifo for treatment.
TRACE authorities continue to urge motorists to drive cautiously and adhere to speed limits to prevent further accidents.
