The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed his full support for the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, who recently claimed to have received over 200 death threats after remarks made about Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Ganduje condemned Obi’s claims as misleading, accusing him of inciting his supporters to target Morka. The allegations stemmed from an interview Morka gave on Arise Television, where he criticized Obi for his stance on the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stating that Obi had “crossed the line” in his criticisms and “deserved whatever came his way.”
Following Obi’s response on social media, claiming that Morka’s comments threatened his life, Morka reported receiving numerous threats, including graphic death threats against both himself and his family. He stated that these threats, which he has documented, were directly linked to Obi’s accusation.
Morka emphasized that his remarks were taken out of context and that he had no intention of threatening Obi. He also expressed confidence that law enforcement would act swiftly to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.
Ganduje strongly rebuffed Obi’s accusations, asserting that Morka’s comments were merely a response to a question regarding “prophets of doom” and “voodoo economics” and did not suggest any harm towards Obi. He accused Obi of using his platform to spread falsehoods, which led to the violent threats against Morka.
The APC chairman also reiterated that the ruling party would continue to challenge baseless allegations and defend the administration’s actions with facts.
