Governor Okpebholo Swears in New Permanent Secretaries, Demands Excellence and Accountability from Edo Civil Service

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has once again demonstrated his commitment to a more efficient and accountable civil service by swearing in three new permanent secretaries at the Government House in Benin. The ceremony, which marked a significant step in his administration’s ongoing efforts to reform public service, saw the governor make it clear that laziness and inefficiency will no longer be tolerated.

During his address, Governor Okpebholo underscored the critical role of a well-trained and motivated workforce in delivering good governance. He emphasized that the people of Edo voted for progress and that the civil service must rise to meet those expectations by being dedicated and professional. Gone are the days when anything goes in public service. My administration will not tolerate indolence and a lackadaisical approach to work, the governor declared.

With a clear focus on improving public service delivery, the governor reiterated his administration’s plan to build a team of efficient civil servants who are regularly trained and equipped with the skills needed to drive positive change in the state. He charged the newly appointed permanent secretaries to lead by example, ensuring that their performance reflects the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.

In response, Stella Eshieshie, one of the newly appointed permanent secretaries, assured the governor that they would dedicate themselves to the implementation of his policies, using their collective expertise to help achieve the vision of a prosperous Edo State. The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, also highlighted the administration’s resolve to create a vibrant and capable civil service that will live up to the expectations of the people of Edo.

Governor Okpebholo’s remarks signal a new chapter in Edo State’s civil service, one focused on transparency, accountability, and efficiency a promise he is determined to keep for the betterment of the state and its residents.
