The Anti-Corruption and Research-Based Data Initiative (ARDI) called on President Bola Tinubu to review Nigeria’s federal policies, including the quota system, federal character principles, and derivation formulas. The group wants these policies re-evaluated for equity, fairness, and justice.
ARDI, led by Chairman Ifeanyi Ozigbo, said these policies have caused regional imbalances, hindering national progress. It argued that the current system favors the North and creates inefficiency.
The group also addressed concerns about proposed tax reforms. They urged consultation to address potential revenue loss for the North and support for the South’s grievances regarding policies like the quota system and civil service promotions.
On derivation, ARDI criticized the 13% fund allocation to oil-producing states, suggesting an increase to 60%. This, they said, would address environmental damage and promote fairness.
ARDI concluded by stressing the importance of a fair federation and called on President Tinubu to act.
