A plastic collector, Yusuf Abubakar, lost his left wrist after being attacked by suspected hoodlums in Isara Remo, Ogun State. The attack occurred on January 6, 2025, in the Sapaade area while Abubakar and two colleagues were collecting used plastics.
According to sources, the attackers, armed with dangerous weapons, pursued the collectors after they tried to flee. While two of the collectors escaped unharmed, Abubakar fell while attempting to flee and was caught by the assailants. They dragged him into a nearby forest, tied his hands and legs, and severed his left wrist before abandoning him.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident. Abubakar, who arrived in Ogun State three days prior, managed to receive treatment at a hospital before reporting the attack to local authorities. Despite a visit from the police, no traces of the assailants were found.
Residents are urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities to the police as the community continues to face threats from violent criminals.
