‘I Gave God Ultimatum to Either Kill Me or Fulfil His Promise’ – Actress Dayo Amusa Reflects on Motherhood Journey

Popular Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa, has opened up about her emotional struggle with infertility and how she gave God an ultimatum during her journey to motherhood.

In a recent interview with Debbie Shokoya, Amusa shared the pain and desperation she felt while seeking to have a child, revealing that she cried uncontrollably in the presence of her domestic staff, pleading with God to either bless her with a child or take her life.

Recalling a particularly intense moment, the actress described how she poured out her heart in prayer after several failed attempts to conceive.

“I remember I was singing at the deepest and the top of my voice. I remember I was crying so deeply like I didn’t mind that my maid and domestic workers were around,” she said.

In her desperate plea, Amusa challenged God to fulfill His promise in her life or end it altogether.

“I was telling God it’s either you take my life at this moment or you fulfill that promise which you have promised me. If there is anything positive about my life that is remaining, I think this is the time,” she revealed.

Amusa further detailed how exhausting the medical process had been, including undergoing numerous medical checkups and surgeries without success.

“I cried and told God I was tired. I knew how many medical checkups I had gone through. I know the amount of surgeries I have had. So, if this thing will still happen, I told God to let it happen. If it’s not going to happen, He should kill me,” she added.

Amusa also revealed that her infertility struggles took a toll on her marriage. She previously disclosed that her ex-husband left her due to her inability to conceive and eventually had a child with another woman.

Despite the heartbreak, she continued to hold on to her faith, believing that God would answer her prayers in His own time.

In November 2023, the actress’s prayers were finally answered when she welcomed a baby boy named Oluwafirewamiri, a name that translates to “God’s goodness has brought me joy.”

Her testimony has since inspired many women facing similar struggles, as she continues to speak openly about her experiences with infertility and the emotional toll it takes.

Dayo Amusa’s story reflects a journey of faith, resilience, and hope, as she continues to share her experiences to encourage women battling infertility.

Her candid revelations have sparked conversations about the emotional and societal pressures placed on women to bear children, particularly in a culture where motherhood is highly valued.
