The Igbo Women Assembly (IWA) has urged Mike Okiro to withdraw from the race for President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
IWA’s National President, Nneka Chimezie, said Okiro should step aside for peace and fairness in Igbo leadership. She argued that Rivers State should provide the next Ohanaeze president. If the Igbo in Rivers are not ready, the position should return to Abia State.
Chimezie confirmed Okiro’s roots are in Imo State, not Rivers. She pointed out that his elder brother is an Eze in Imo. She called on Okiro to do the right thing and withdraw.
Chimezie also raised concerns about military presence in the South East, saying it’s causing many youths to flee. She condemned comments by journalist Reuben Abati on Igbo land sales, threatening legal action unless he apologizes.
She warned about the declining health and life expectancy among Igbos. She advised the community to avoid junk food and adopt healthier habits. Chimezie also highlighted the decline of Igbo language and culture, but assured that IWA is working to preserve both.
