The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will begin in January. The Board has indicated that it expects a surge in registrations and has put measures in place to ensure a smooth process for candidates.
In a statement released on Monday, JAMB disclosed that it has completed preparations for the 2025 UTME, including the generation of a pool of examination items and the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. The registration will commence on a yet-to-be-announced date in January, with JAMB promising the best UTME experience in its history, following insights gained from the 2024 review.
To ensure a seamless registration process, JAMB has outlined several conditions for candidates. First, it advised candidates to prepare early by creating their profiles. This involves sending a text message with their National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019, which will speed up the process and avoid delays.
Additionally, JAMB issued a strict warning against the application of henna on fingers, also known as ‘Laali’ or ‘Lale.’ The Board explained that henna obstructs biometric verification, and removing it with harsh chemicals could damage the whorls on the fingers, making it impossible to complete biometric verification.
Candidates were reminded that successful biometric verification is mandatory for admission to the examination hall. Without it, candidates will not be allowed to access the exam questions. JAMB urged all candidates to take these precautions seriously to ensure a smooth registration and examination experience.
