Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville has predicted that former President Donald Trump’s administration will face a major “collapse” within thirty days.
Speaking during an interview with Dan Abrams, the founder of Mediaite, Carville advised Democrats to avoid confronting Trump on every issue and instead allow the situation to unfold naturally.
Abrams noted that the Democrats’ opposition to many of Trump’s nominations could strengthen Republican support. In response, Carville urged the Democrats to “play possum,” suggesting that the administration is already showing signs of internal breakdown.
“I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days, is in the midst of a massive collapse and a collapse in public opinion,” Carville said.
The 80-year-old political consultant pointed to polling data indicating a sharp decline in Trump’s approval rating—from the low fifties to the upper thirties.
However, during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Trump claimed that more Americans supported his performance during his first month in office.
Reports from various polling organizations, including Echelon Insight, Gallup, and SurveyUSA, place Trump’s approval rating for February in the range of 40 to 50 percent. Other pollsters, such as YouGov, Ipsos, and Quinnipiac University, have shown similar results.
Despite Carville’s warnings, Trump’s public approval remains a contentious topic as both parties continue to clash over key policy decisions.
