Just In: Tinubu Moves To Lift Fubara’s Suspension After Peace Deal With Wike

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reportedly making bold moves to lift the political suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following a surprise peace accord with former Governor Nyesom Wike — a development that has left Nigerians both shocked and skeptical.

Political Thunder Turns to Whispers

After months of high political tension that nearly turned Rivers State into a warzone of loyalties, President Tinubu has stepped in to broker peace between his two political sons — Sim Fubara and Nyesom Wike. Sources from the Presidency revealed that part of the reconciliation process includes lifting all punitive measures, including Fubara’s suspension from the PDP-dominated Rivers House.

The move comes barely 72 hours after both camps reportedly signed a “gentleman’s agreement” at Aso Rock, supervised by Tinubu himself. This surprise détente was meant to end the lingering feud that has crippled governance in Rivers and created factional chaos within the state assembly.

Though full details remain sketchy, insiders say Tinubu demanded “total ceasefire” from both Fubara and Wike, with a return to status quo. In exchange, the President reportedly promised to influence reconciliation through legal and party channels including the controversial suspension slammed on Fubara by loyalists of Wike earlier this year.

Recall that the rift between the once-tight allies exploded late last year, when Fubara began what many called a “cleansing of Wike’s loyalists” in the state government. What followed was a fierce political war — house demolitions, court cases, and even claims of witch-hunting.

Reactions: Streets No Too Sure

As expected, Nigerians are not keeping quiet.

“So Tinubu dey play peacemaker now? When e reach APC family matter, na peace talk. But ASUU dey strike, na ghost mode.”

@AdaRivers tweeted:
“I no trust this peace talk o. Wike go still move like landlord, make una watch!”

Analyst Jude Mbata told Trending Naija News:

“This is not just about peace, it’s about 2027 calculations. Tinubu can’t afford another southern PDP warzone. But lifting a suspension without grassroots reconciliation may only silence the noise, not the grudges.”
