In Sankwab Runji, Zango Kataf LGA, Kaduna State, the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Primary School’s crumbling infrastructure has become a symbol of neglect. Despite the community’s resilience, the school is falling apart, affecting 200 pupils.

For years, the school has endured partially collapsed walls and weather-related challenges. Rainwater floods classrooms during the wet season, and cold winds penetrate during the dry season. The government established the school in 1992 with just two classrooms. Over time, the community has added more, but the infrastructure continues to deteriorate.

The Parents Teachers Association Chairman, Mr. Bitrus Magaji, voiced his frustration, noting that the school only has four teachers. Community members continue to make voluntary contributions and fix the school, but new challenges arise every year. Some parents have moved their children to nearby schools, while others remain hopeful that government intervention will bring change.

Youth leader Mr. Livinus Achi called on Governor Senator Uba Sani and Local Government Chairman Engineer Bege Joseph for immediate help. Another parent, Mr. Joseph Bitrus, emphasized the urgency for government and corporate bodies to come to the school’s aid.

As the community struggles to sustain education in such dire conditions, the future of the pupils hangs in the balance.
