Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has shared his thoughts on why many women remain unmarried in their 30s. In a recent interview with News Central, the actor attributed this phenomenon to the choices many women make in their younger years, particularly in their 20s.
Kanayo explained that many women in their 30s spent their early years dating older, often married men, and rejecting younger men who were potential marriage prospects. He noted that some women, especially in university, become involved with wealthy older men, who may give them gifts like cars and houses. This, according to Kanayo, causes these women to believe they are living a high-level life, which leads them to dismiss younger suitors.
The guy is very rich and probably married, she refuses the advances of other younger people because the guy has either gotten her a car and a house, Kanayo explained. He continued, saying that by the time these women reach their late 20s and early 30s, they may find themselves unmarried, with men no longer viewing them as desirable partners.
Kanayo further highlighted that women who prioritize wealth and status over relationships with younger men may eventually find themselves struggling to find a husband as they approach their 30s. By that time she had left the university and men are no longer finding her that attractive, he said.
According to Kanayo, what starts as a phase of enjoyment or flexing often turns into a period of desperation and prayer for many women by the time they reach 31 or 33, as the opportunities for marriage become more limited. He also stressed that while some women may still feel they are enjoying life, by this age, they are in a state of emergency, hoping to find a husband, sometimes well into their 30s.
