Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the disbursement of the third installment of pension payments to retirees in the state. The payments will begin on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Governor Yusuf shared the news during the launch of a program providing N5,000 to 5,200 women across Kano’s 44 local government areas. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to retirees’ welfare and pledged to ensure their entitlements are paid promptly.
While the governor did not disclose the exact amount for this third disbursement, he highlighted his government’s efforts to address outstanding pensions. In December 2023, N5 billion was released for the first round, and in May 2024, N6 billion was allocated for the second round, covering at least 6,000 retirees owed entitlements from 2016 to 2019.
Acknowledging the current economic challenges, Governor Yusuf expressed empathy for retirees still awaiting payments and vowed to prioritize their well-being.
