Kano Govt Approves Payment of Nine Months’ Salary Arrears to Sanitation Workers

The Kano State Executive Council, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the payment of nine months’ salary arrears to 2,369 sanitation workers across the state.

The outstanding payments, covering June 2024 to February 2025, were sanctioned to enhance environmental sustainability and improve the welfare of sanitation workers.

Announcing the decision, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ quality of life and maintaining a clean environment.

“The timely payment of these arrears will go a long way in motivating our sanitation workers, who have shown exceptional dedication despite the delay,” Dr. Hashim stated.

He commended the workers for their patience and resilience, acknowledging their crucial role in ensuring cleanliness across the state.

Additionally, Dr. Hashim revealed that other sanitation personnel, including House-to-House Inspectors and members of the Sanitation Vanguard, would soon be assessed for similar payments. The Ministry urged these workers to prepare for upcoming evaluations.
