Ace music executive Kenny Ogungbe, the CEO of Kennis Music, has opened up about the challenges of managing iconic Nigerian singer 2Face, now known as 2Baba, during his time with the record label. In a candid conversation on The Honest Bunch podcast, Ogungbe revealed that the label took active measures to prevent the young artist from indulging in womanizing, a behavior that would later define much of his public persona.

According to Ogungbe, women constantly sought 2Face’s attention, but the label took steps to shield him from such distractions. “When 2Face was with us [at Kennis Music], we prevented him from seeing girls. Girls come to look for him all the time, but we didn’t allow him to see any of them,” Ogungbe said. However, he admitted that after 2Face left Kennis Music, the label lost control over his actions, especially as the singer’s personal life became a frequent subject of public scrutiny.

Ogungbe also reflected on the media’s portrayal of 2Face’s romantic life, acknowledging that even when the singer became the butt of jokes for his relationships and numerous children with different women, he did not interfere. “Even when he was becoming the butt of jokes of some comedians [for being a womaniser], I didn’t call him to question him because he’s a matured man. Every man has his cross,” Ogungbe shared, highlighting the difficulties of managing an artist’s personal life.

2Face’s complex relationship history, including multiple baby mamas and his eventual marriage to Annie Idibia in 2012, made him a staple of Nigerian entertainment gossip. Despite the controversies, Ogungbe’s insights shed light on the behind-the-scenes efforts to guide and protect the artist during his rise to fame.
