Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has offered a heartfelt prayer in response to the recent arrest of Queen Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, following a tragic stampede at her charity event in Ibadan.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Queen Naomi, alongside Oriyomi Hazmat, the owner of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, was remanded in custody after a stampede at their charity event left over 32 children dead. The duo had organized the event to feed the less privileged, but the incident led to their arraignment on charges of conspiracy, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities.
Reacting to the news on Instagram, Biola Bayo shared a powerful prayer, asking that her good intentions never lead to trouble. She expressed her heartbreak over the situation, noting how Queen Naomi’s charitable efforts turned into a tragic predicament.
Biola wrote, Oluwa jo, ma je kin shi’ore se o. May my good heart never put me in trouble in Jesus’ name. The same people who were hailing ‘Hosanna! Hosanna!’ were the ones shouting ‘Keel him, keel him.’
She continued, I feel so sad seeing the news about Queen Naomi and Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat. My heart is so heavy. All she wanted to do was put a smile on people’s faces, and now regret! This can happen to anyone. This too shall pass!
Support also came from actor Adeniyi Johnson, who praised the generosity and kind-heartedness of the Ondo people, including Naomi, and prayed for her strength. The Ooni of Ife expressed solidarity with his estranged wife, extending his condolences to the affected families and commending Naomi’s history of philanthropy during her time as queen.
The tragedy has drawn widespread sympathy, with many lamenting how good intentions can sometimes lead to unforeseen consequences. As the case unfolds, calls for compassion and understanding continue to echo across social media.
